New business through cooperation
The City of Turku had the privilege to host this year’s China-Europe Water Platform (CEWP) on 21–22 September. On the eve of CEWP, Finnish Water Forum and NordicBlue project organised a networking event for water sector companies and public organisations to support new business opportunities in the Nordic and Baltic countries.
A part of the implementation of the Nordic Road Map for Blue Bioeconomy, the event included several inspiring and informative presentations by investors and other experts followed by a matchmaking session for closer business discussions.
There seemed to be a joint understanding among participants that Nordic and Baltic water organisations need to cooperate to create growth and there is a great demand in platforms that support cooperation. As Ilse Korsvang, Head of Group, Danish Water Technology Group, put it: business cooperation starts with getting to know each other.
Nordic countries are similar in many ways, but there is also good potential for synergies:
“When it comes to markets, we have different strengths. Denmark, for example, has good connections to China, while Finnish companies have for a long time been successful in doing business in Russia”, said Bjørn Kaare Jensen, Vice Chairman, Danish Water Forum.
